TF2 Sniper Vs Spy & Gamers Vs Valve

First thanks Valve for new and fun maps but you need to be spanked for the new way "unlocks" now works which you may have noticed did not sit well with the regular TF2 gamers.

Under the old way one had to work towards the new weapons by doing achievements and getting to milestones which unlocked weapon or a gadget.
Under the new way one can just sit in spawn or even spectate and randomly get new items or a duplicate of an item you already have. The player has no way to influence what weapon or gadget which will drop, it could be a duplicate item or something new.

Some of the more math savvy people at the steam forums have come up with some interesting numbers. With god like luck and no redundant drops it would take ~100 hours of game time to get all items. Worst case scenario it would take ~500 hours of game time.

Mistake 1: Build up hype for the upcoming update with its new weapon and gadgets starting 8 days before release.
Mistake 2: Make no mention of the bait and switch.
Mistake 3: Act surprised when gamers don't like the new MMO style weapon & gadget drop
Mistake 4: Defending the MMO weapon drop system which players now hate with a passion.

Kubuntu 9.04 released too soon?

Upgrading my Kubuntu 8.04/64bit to Kubuntu 9.04/64bit

The fresh install (no old data kept) went smooth but once it fired up trouble appeared, the desktop resolution would never go further than 1360x760 even with help from nvidia's own binary driver installed (173 and the lastest 180.51). After having struggled with the system for approx 6 hours non-stop to get back my 1920x1200 which it is predecessor had no problems with, I simply gave up and reached for the old Kubuntu 8.04.1 install cd I had burned last year and reinstalled 8.04 and with in minutes I had my 1920x1200 desktop back.

Kubuntu 8.04 never had any problems with getting GeForce 8800GT and Samsung T240 to use 1920x1200 desktop resolution. Strange Kubuntu 9.04 does have this problem, my guess would be that it is not mature enough and should not have been released in the first place, that is my 2 eurocents.

DAGBLADET.NO
